New Leadership

Tony and I are looking forward to leading Ring and Hillendahl this next fiscal year. We want to continue the great programs you already have going and maybe create some new ones. Tony loves graphic novels and loves sharing them with others. Hopefully he will bring a new perspective to young adult programming. (Not that Kathy isn't great: she's so great I'm stealing her for HIL) Here's to good times ahead!

First Quarter Team Spirit Award

On July 11th, Ring staff celebrated our hard work by receiving the First Quarter Team Spirit award!!

Feeding Dreams at Hillendahl Neighborhood Library's Summer Reading Program

Hillendahl Neighborhood Library customers have enjoyed a variety of popular programs this summer.

 

Hilarious comic juggler Claude Sims held the audience rapt with expert juggling and witty repartee. 

 

Texas Snakes and More brought visually striking snakes.

 

 Accomplished origami teacher Jennifer Gerring skillfully demonstrated how to make an origami jumping frog, a sail boat and a clever box.

"Jungle Jim" Klinger brought exotic specimens of snakes, turtles, and insects from all over the globe.

Julian Franklin Show

Shelving During SRP

An amazing thing happened. For a brief fleeting moment during SRP, only two carts of books needed to be shelved!!

Hillendahl Staff Keeps Busy with Community Contacts

Hillendahl SR-LA Laura Troy and LA Mary Javaherian attended the Spring Shadows Elementary School Health Fair on May 11th. They spoke to 150 parents, children and teachers, distributed incentives, conducted Power Card registration and made contacts for potential program presenters for Hillendahl. Youth Services LSS Allie Alves conducted Power Card registration at the Sherwood Forest Elementary School Library Night on May 12^th. She continues to make regular visits twice a month to St. Andrew Early Childhood Center to present storytimes. In April, Allie also hosted a large group of children from St. Andrew at Hillendahl, treating them to a brief storytime and a tour of the library. Youth Services LSS Dean Turner visited St. Jerome Catholic School on April 11th to present booktalks on Young Adult titles to 66 middle school students.
