SRP Update!

Hi everyone!

I mentioned the status of SRP prizes in today's meeting BUT since then things have changed! This is the latest from Youth Services:

I can request:

• Finger puppets 
• Rice tickets 
• Kids Chipotle Coupons 

YS is running low on: 

• Ally Theater tickers  

YS is completely out of: 

• Sunglasses
• Meal Sets
• Bibs & Teethers
• Sunglasses
• Astros Bags & Tickets
• CMH Tickets
• Teen Chipotle
• Family Packs (all ages)

If we're low on things let me know ASAP so I can request more! Thank you for all your hard work this summer! <3

Family Prize Packs, more info!

Before you hand out our Family Prize Packs, make sure the customer has done these three things:

1. Completed a youth book review.
2. Completed an adult book review.
3. At least 1 youth on the same account as this adult needs to have completed the 30 book or 30 hour level.

Both Ring & Hillendahl have received the first round of prize packs, YS is working diligently to create more. 

Additionally, if we're running low on prizes, please let me know so that I can request more from YS.

SRP - Family Prize Packs are on the way!

Hi folks, I'm copying and pasting this from an e-mail Sara Pope sent out regarding the family prize packs...

Family prize packs update:

• The first round of family prize packs has gone down to delivery and should be delivered within the next couple of days! The box that you will receive has 4 prize packs in it. Please note, there are 4 different prize packs (for 4 different age groups). They are marked with a color-coded label. There is a bag that includes board books, recommended for ages 0-3, a bag with picture books for kids 4-7, a bag with picture books and chapter books for kids 8-11 and a bag with teen books for 12-18. Each bag includes 5 books for the youth and 5 books for the adult, as well as a Raising Cane’s kids meal (while supplies last) and tickets for Hermann Park (while supplies last). 
• The ages are recommendations-you can let the customer pick which age bag they want (a customer might have a baby and an 8 year old, the baby completed 30 books but the kid didn’t yet complete 30 hours but the parent would like the 8-11 year old bag-that’s fine!)
• The bags are stapled shut-please give them to the customer this way.
• Also, no, people can’t trade books with your supply of SRP registration books!
• Remember, you will award the Family Completion Prize through the adult’s account. The adult needs to put in the 3 codes to complete the program (1 for the youth book review, 1 for the adult review, and one for the youth achieving the 30 book or hour level).

SRP Training and Homework!

I've added some helpful SRP links on the side of our blog! Check 'em out!

I'm also copying over the "homework" slide from today's training. Please visit
houstonlibrary.beanstack.org and create some fake accounts! (It's fun, I promise. I've made several for the Darth Vader family.)

Your Homework:

•Create an account. Make sure the first name begins with HPL_ so that we can easily identify and delete these test accounts.

▫Example: HPL_Hermione

•Test the following functions

▫Logging books/minutes (after June 1)

▫Attending programs (enter codes after June 1)

▫Switching Account Creators

▫Award prizes to your test accounts using your location’s account

Summer Reading Program '13

Email from Sandy Farmer on 5/7/13:

Summer Reading Club registration began May 1^st.  This is so that our school partners can encourage their students to enroll. Logging books will not begin until June 1^st.

If you have previously bookmarked the Summer Reading Club staff website please go to the reference page on the Intranet and rebookmark (yes, I know that’s not a real word) the page. The software was moved to a new location that should provide us with better service.

Due to the location change in Summer Reader all customers will have to do a new registration for this year. All previous year’s information has been removed from Summer Reader. If a customer has registered before, they will have to do a new registration this year. Hopefully this fresh start will allow our customers access to many previously taken usernames and it will make it easier for us to find people.
